Thomas Rhett says being a second-generation country star has its benefits. The son of singer-songwriter Rhett Akins explains that he didn't have a very traditional upbringing, but it's kept him from encountering a lot of surprises in his career.
Thomas says as a kid he spent a lot of time on the road with his dad. The singer admits that during the school year he was always asking his father for a note excusing him from class on Fridays so he could "hop on the bus" and spend the weekend touring with him. He adds that he got to play the drums and even sing a song during his dad's shows.
Thomas is on the road this summer. He'll be joining Brantley Gilbert, Tyler Farr, and Cole Swindell at an event in Farmingville, New York on Thursday.
