Several inches of snow that fell in the metro area on Tuesday afternoon and evening made for a trecherous morning commute on Wednesday.
Dozens of accidents were reported throughout the City and Omaha Police stopped taking property damage accident reports around 6:30 a.m.
The snow combined with bitterly cold temperatures and windchills forced all metro area schools to close. On the Newsradio 1110 KFAB Good Morning Show Mayor Jean Stothert said City street crews had more than 100 trucks and equipment out on the streets removing snow.
Contract workers are working to clear snow in residential areas and Stothert says all neighborhood streets will be plowed at least once by noon today.
