A nine year old boy is in the hospital after being attacked by a loose pitbull Thursday afternoon.  Omaha Police say the boy was attacked in the front yard of a home near 57th and Pratt.

Two dogs were reportedly running loose in the neighborhood around 3:30.  One of the dogs bit the boy, who suffered superficial puncture wounds to his leg and back.

Sergeant Erich Hupka says after the child was bit, relatives were able to coax the pitbull inside their house and locked it in a bathroom until rescue crews arrived.

The other dog ran off.  Police are now searching for the owners of the dogs.
