Charges Filed In Crash That Killed Omaha Firefighter

The Douglas County Sheriff's Department says a 30 year old Fremont man will be charged with misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide for the death of Omaha Firefighter Scott Petersen.

The crash happened on May 30th near 204th and Pacific. Investigators say 30 year old Jonathan Mumm crossed the center line and struck Petersen head on as he rode his motorcycle.

Mumm was not hurt. He turned himself in at the Douglas County Sheriff's Department on Wednesday and was released after receiving the misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide citation.

Petersen served as a firefighter for the Elkhorn and Omaha departments. He is survived by his wife and children.
