A Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy has found herself on the wrong side of the law. The Sheriff's Department says Deputy Kristin Jones has been booked for possesion of a controlled substance.

In a press released issued by the sheriff's department on Friday, Jones was assigned to clerical work in the sheriff's office.  In early April, Jones was suspected of engaging in criminal conduct.

The sheriff's office contacted the Nebraska State Patrol and turned over the information to NSP for review and investigation.

Following the investigation, Jones voluntarily surrendered to the Nebraska State Patrol on June 13th and was booked for possession of a controlled substance.

The sheriff's department is now conducting an internal investigation and no further details about the case have been released.  Jones has been a deputy for 11 years.
