The fire was reported around 11:30 last night at the Quart House Bar near 4th and Main Street.  Plattsmouth firefighters called for help from other area fire departments.  Personnel from six departments including Omaha, Bellevue and Ralston arrived on the scene overnight.

As of 4:30 Friday morning, flames could still be seen coming from the buidling.  Residents from apartments on the second story of the historic building were forced to evacuate as the flames spread.  There have been no reports so far of any injuries.

As crews worked to extinguish the flames in the bitter cold temperatures, water froze almost immediately, posing a hazard for firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
