The Nebraska Department of Labor released their preliminary unemployment rate for July. The seasonally adjusted number came in at 3.6%, up 0.1% from June's 3.5%. However, that is down 0.4% from July 2013.
"July marks 11 straight months of year-to-year decreases in the unemployment rate," said Acting Commissioner of Labor John H. Albin. "The number of unemployed workers continued to decline on a year-to-year-basis and the labor force held steady at more than 1 million workers."
Much of the growth occurred in trade, transportation and utilities, education and health services and leisure and hospitality.
Omaha's preliminary unemployment rate for July came in at 4.2%, up 0.1% from June. Lincoln's preliminary rate was 3.4% compared to 3.3% in June.
