"Be Ready" are the two words the University of Nebraska Athletic Department officials say will capture the excitement behind the enhanced fan experience this fall.
A $12.3 million improvements project is underway, which includes replacing the stadium's existing sound system and installing a wireless network. An Internet television system will serve concourses, clubs and suites.
"Each of these Memorial Stadium Fan Experience Improvements are designed to provide the best college football fans in America with the best game-day experience possible," Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst says.
The department said the new sound system will improve the audio quality throughout the stadium. The department says exclusive video content will extend the HuskerVision experience beyond the existing screens inside the stadium, giving fans control of video from their own mobile devices.
In addition, the Huskers are working on a smartphone app to deliver game-day information and video.
As part of this improvement, a new scoreboard design will be incorporated into the overall sound system structure. A 25-foot illuminated Nebraska "N" topped with a football graphic will be visible both inside and outside the stadium.
