Vivianne Chaumont, a state agency director who oversaw Nebraska's Medicaid and long-term care services, has died of cancer.
Department of Health and Human Services CEO Kerry Winterer said Chaumont died Thursday. She was 60.
Chaumont became director of Medicaid and Long-Term Care Services in July 2007. She previously served as a Colorado Assistant Attorney General, and worked in the California Department of Health Services.
Winterer says Chaumont was a dedicated public servant, and cared deeply about the program that served more than 230,000 people who depend on Medicaid.
Governor Dave Heineman says Chaumont should be remembered for her commitment other to other people. She is survived by three children.
