Omaha firefighters had their hands full when they responded to a house fire near 21st and N Street late Thursday morning.

Acting Assistant Fire Chief Dan Olsen says there was heavy smoke coming from the house when they arrived.

Olsen says they were initially told someone may be trapped inside the burning house.  It was later determined that the family of four was not home at the time.

Olsen says the weather conditions made getting to the scene a little more difficult.  There was also concern with firefighters slipping and falling while battling the smoke and flames.

The cause of the fire is not yet known
