(Los Angeles, CA) -- Actor Allan Arbus, best known for playing psychiatrist Major Sidney Freedman on TV's "M*A*S*H," has died.
"The New York Times" says Arbus died last Friday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 95. The New York-born actor also made regular appearances on shows such as "Taxi," "Starsky & Hutch" and "Matlock" in the 1970s and 1980s. But it was for his role on "M*A*S*H" that he is best remembered. Arbus was married to photographer Diane Arbus who took her own life in 1971, two years after they divorced. He is survived by his second wife Marieclare Costello and three daughters.
