Teen With Autism Gives Touching Graduation Speech

When Sef Scott stepped up to the podium at Plano Senior High School’s graduation recently, he gave a speech that surprised everyone. The teen has autism and he’s usually nonverbal, but he delivered an inspiring speech about doing the unexpected that brought the house down.

Scott introduced himself and explained that he has learning differences, telling fellow graduates that it’s unexpected that he’d be up there giving a speech. He did a great job during his six-minute talk, using jokes and humor, and the crowd cheered him on.

"Don't follow someone else's dreams," Scott told grads. "Don't waste time on something you never wanted. Do the unexpected. It is your life that you are living, not someone else's, so do what fulfills you."
