Kenny Chesney Cancels CMA Awards Appearance Over Family Death


Kenny Chesney canceled his appearance at the CMA Awards on Wednesday night following a family tragedy. “CMA Musical Event of the Year winner & Entertainer of the Year nominee @KennyChesney will be unable to appear on tonight’s telecast due to a death in the family,” organizers tweeted ahead of the ceremony. Chesney was nominated for Entertainer of the Year alongside Jason Aldean, Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan, and Keith Urban; Urban took home the prize. Earlier in the day, Chesney nabbed the award for Musical Event of the Year for his collaboration with David Lee Murphy on “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright.”
