Trick plays in sports always fascinate me. Probably for 2 reasons.
First, a team needs to practice the trick play over and over to truly make it believable.
Second, the entire team needs to be on the same page at the right time in order to make it happen.
This softball team executes a play perfectly. When you watch it for the 3rd or 4th time, watch the shortstop, second baseman and outfielder all dive for the "ball". That acting is what makes this whole play work.
That softball play reminds me of this one from the 1982 College World Series.
I was sitting just up from first base for this game. It was the talk of the stadium for quite some time.
When it comes to the whole team pulling off a trick play, this is perfect. The entire dugout is in on the play. Even the two guys in the bullpen start running as if the ball had just come their way.
