- Check for Soft Spots & Mold 🕵️♀️ Give your pumpkin a little inspection. Look for any soft spots or signs of mold, especially underneath. Press on it with your thumbs—if it gives a little, it’s not fresh. We want firm and fabulous!
- Stem Check! 🌿 A pumpkin with its handle or stem intact is a keeper. A dark green stem means it was picked recently, while a brown stem might be a bit older. Freshness is key!
- Tap Test 🎶 Give your pumpkin a gentle tap. If it sounds hollow, it’s more likely to be easier to carve. Plus, it’s just fun to do!
- Flat Walls & No Deep Ribs ✨ For those perfect carvings, look for pumpkins with flat walls and no deep ribs. Skip the tall, oblong ones—they tend to have stringier flesh that makes precise cuts tricky.
