The sunscreen spot almost everyone forgets

We all know the sunscreen rules by now. Apply it every day, reapply often, and don’t skimp. Easy enough, right? But even if you’re doing everything “right,” there’s one spot almost everyone forgets.

And doctors are seeing the consequences.

The Sneaky Spot You’re Skipping

Dermatologists say they’re noticing more skin cancer cases in a place most people never think to protect. It’s not your shoulders or your nose or even your ears.

It’s your scalp, especially right along the hairline.

One skin doctor put it simply: “I frequently see skin cancers high on the forehead, right at the hairline.” That tiny strip of skin is out there soaking up sun every day, and most of us never cover it.

Why It Matters

Your hair might feel like it’s doing the job, but it doesn’t block UV rays as well as you think. And if you part your hair, that exposed line is even more vulnerable.

The hairline is especially tricky because it’s easy to miss when you’re rubbing in lotion. You think you’ve covered everything, but that top edge stays bare.

How to Protect It

Here are a few easy ways to keep that area safe:

  • Rub sunscreen into the hairline so you don’t leave gaps
  • Use a spray sunscreen if you don’t want lotion in your hair
  • Wear a hat when you’ll be outside for long stretches

Sprays are especially helpful because they’re quick, light, and easy to mist over the top of your head without messing up your style.
