We've heard of a lot of interesting side hustles but this one?

Want to terrify your kids this Halloween? Brantley Gerhardt is up for the job. The Alabama farmer has an interesting side hustle - he dresses up in creepy costumes and parents hire him to scare their children. But it’s actually all in good fun.

Gerhardt started offering the spooky services last year and he’s traveled all over frightening kiddos for $30 a pop. This time of year, he’s dressing up as Michael Myers, the serial killer from the “Halloween” movies, jumping out at photoshoots with the trademark mask to startle and strike terror. On one recent day, he booked 40 photo sessions and says 10 of them were all grown-ups who “just want to have fun and forget about the world.”

But Gerhardt actually came up with the idea for getting into costume during the pandemic, when he decided to get a Grinch costume with hopes of distracting youngsters from COVID. He’d dress up as the Grinch, head over to the local Walmart and creep around, and one day, a dad asked him if he’d take $20 to scare his kid. From there, he got jobs popping out at Christmas parties as the Grinch and kids of all ages seem to love it. Gerhardt also dresses up as the much less frightening Easter Bunny in March and April, and says he’s made some serious cash wearing costumes for the thousands of families he’s met.
