Check your closet! Something in there you've never worn? You're not alone!

Ever fall in love with a sweater, dress or pair of shoes at the store only to bring it home and realize you don’t have anywhere to wear it? We’ve all been there and that’s why so many of us have those items sitting in our closets and have never even worn them once. And a new survey reveals just how common this is.

According to a poll by Stitch Fix United Kingdom of 2-thousand adults, people have an average of $268.44 worth of unworn clothes in their closets. The survey reveals:

  • Despite having so many clothes they haven’t even worn them all, respondents still complain they have nothing to wear six times a month.
  • Only 6% of respondents say they’ve actually worn everything in their wardrobe at least once.
  • Instead of wearing some of those brand-new clothes they own, 80% of those polled admit they wear the same things over and over.
  • And 65% confess some of their clothes still have the tags on them.
  • While 31% of the 18 to 24-year-olds surveyed say they’ve impulsively bought clothes because they were trendy, only to find they didn’t actually like them, nearly half of all respondents say they want to invest in pieces that can be worn for a long time.
  • And 37% of those polled say that minimizing their closet would cut down on the stress they feel getting dressed every day.
