Blake Shelton revealed that his battle advisor on the upcoming season of The Voice will be fellow country superstar Jimmie Allen. Shelton said he “couldn’t keep it a secret any longer,” when he shared the news on his social media channels on Wednesday (August 17).

Shelton’s confirmation comes shortly after he dropped a few hints. The “Come Back As A Country Boy” artist shared a clip on his social media channels on Tuesday (August 16), giving fans a few clues: “he’s known for rocking some pretty crazy outfits on stage,” “this artist has collaborated with someone in our Voice family’s family,” and “this dude can bowl.” Those clues were enough for some social media users, who predicted that Allen would serve as Shelton’s battle advisor. Some of them commented on Shelton’s post on Wednesday, celebrating that they guessed correctly and sharing their excitement for the upcoming season. Referring to their shared birthday, Allen retweeted Shelton and said: “The June 18th boys are here.”

The smash-hit NBC competition series is set to return next month. Shelton shared that The Voice is set to premiere on September 19 as he shared a few teasers with fellow coaches John Legend, Gwen Stefani and newcomer Camila Cabello. The other coaches also dropped a few clues to help fans guess their battle advisors in the upcoming season. They revealed on Wednesday that Legend would welcome Jazmine Sullivan to his team, Stefani will team up with Sean Paul, and Cabello would join forces with Charlie Puth this season.
