The love of the Harry Potter series is deep and wide.
My wife and daughter enjoy both the books and movies.
As I watch the movies (I don't have the time or patience for the books), there are things I notice that only adults would realize.
Have you ever noticed that nobody other than Hermione pays much attention to slavery? "Yeah, but that's what elves are for." Where is the compassion in that?
Or, have you ever noticed that background checks on professors never seem to happen? How can all these bad guys get jobs teaching young children?
And who puts their kids in a school that pits students against each other where death is a real possibility?
Maybe I just need to relax and take the story for what it's worth. That's what fiction is about. Sometimes I just have a tough time making the leap.
