Carrie Underwood's mother Carole Underwood recently spoke about her daughter's musical career journey. She says they had developed a plan B if music didn't pan out.
Carole does a little flashback in an interview with CMT.
The two had agreed to give it a try until Carrie graduated from college. If music didn't happen by then, Carrie and her mother agreed that the singer would get a "real" job.
Carrie was one semester from graduating college when she decided to head to St. Louis to audition for American Idol.
As they say ... the rest is history.
