Did you know the Super Bowl wasn't originally called the Super Bowl?
When the NFL met the newly formed AFL for the first ever championship game, league officials wanted to call it the Big One, the Pro Bowl or something else. The event was eventually called the AFL-NFL World Championship Game. Not very exciting.
It wasn't until the fourth year of the game that league officials finally accepted Super Bowl as the official name, even though the fans and press had been referring to the game as the Super Bowl since the beginning.
