Max Out Your Potential With The “Four Pillars Of Productivity”

Feeling a little less productive than usual lately? During the summer months, when the weather is nice and people are enjoying the outdoors and taking vacations, productivity tends to drop a little. So if you’re not tackling as many projects or you’re feeling overwhelmed by your to-do list, you’re not alone.

Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to get back to peak productivity. Productivity coach Mark Whittle studied some of the most successful people in the world to come up with four key things that maximize potential. He calls them the “four pillars of productivity” and here’s how to put them to work in your daily life.

  1. Prioritize - Learning to plan and prioritize your work is essential for peak performance and productivity, according to this expert. He advises starting the morning by identifying your most important tasks for the day, the things that must be finished by the end of the day, no matter what. Then you can create a meaningful to-do list with these key tasks at the top.
  2. Peak productivity hours - We all have times of the day when we work better and getting to know your peak productivity hours will help you work smarter. Once you determine the times that are best for you, you can schedule your most important tasks around when you have the most energy and focus.
  3. Concentration - Productivity can really take a hit when you’re dealing with distractions, like a buzzing phone or a chatty coworker. That’s why creating a space free from distractions is crucial for being able to concentrate for extended periods of time. The more disciplined you are with removing distractions, the more you’ll be able to accomplish.
  4. Rest - Taking a break when you’ve got a lot to do may seem counterproductive, but our brains need regular breaks to stay focused. Whittle points out that even highly-productive people can’t concentrate for eight hours straight. So build regular breaks into your day, even if it’s just to take a quick walk or stretch, it will help you focus and boost your productivity.
