FDA Warns Against Social Media Challenge!

  • The Food and Drug Administration has taken an official stance on Sleepy Chicken.
  • On Tuesday, the FDA issued a warning about the social media challenge that has people cooking chicken with NyQuil.
  • A statement said, "Boiling a medication can make it much more concentrated and change its properties in other ways. Even if you don’t eat the chicken, inhaling the medication’s vapors while cooking could cause high levels of the drugs to enter your body. It could also hurt your lungs."
  • The message covers any challenges involving medication, including the Benadryl challenge.
  • The FDA advised parents to keep over-the-counter, and prescription drugs locked away from kids.
  • If you feel your child has taken too much medicine, call 911 immediately or contact poison control at 1-800-222-1222.
