Spring has officially arrived and that means it’s time to tackle some spring cleaning. That means organizing your closet and kitchen, getting rid of things you don’t need, as well as sprucing things up, and the same goes for your dating app profile. Maybe your goals have changed, you have new photos to add, or it’s just time to make some edits to your bio.
Logan Ury, director of relationship science at the dating app Hinge, shares quick and easy ways to spring clean your profile so you can line up more spring dates.
- Freshen up - “Think about your profile as your opening line in a conversation,” Logan suggests, “Something your match can respond to or as a follow-up question about.” How easy is yours to respond to? Making that easier is a great place to start.
- Tap into your quirks - Lots of people get hung up on trying to present a perfect image in their bio, but this expert says successful profiles include a mix of both humor and vulnerability. So don’t be afraid to show your silly side, along with your serious side.
- Speak your truth - If your dating app includes formats like voice notes and videos, put them to work for you. Research shows that 64% of daters say hearing a potential match’s voice is important to helping them figure out if they like them and nearly half of users have become more attracted to someone after hearing their voice.
- Set your intentions - To hear more from people who want a relationship and less from those who don’t want something serious, update your profile to be upfront about your expectations.
- You’re better than the cliches - Want to stand out in a sea of singles? “Stop talking about your love for ‘The Office’ and start telling us about your secret hobby as an herbal tea connoisseur,” advises Logan.
- Show your social side - Include one photo of you with friends or family to show you have a healthy social life.
- Skip the small talk - You want to give people the chance to see more about who you are in your bio, so it shouldn’t be filled with one-word answers, according to Logan.
