We’ve all heard the theory that it takes 21 days to form a new habit. Well, it turns out that’s not true. Researchers at the California Institute of Technology say there is no magic number for forming a new habit -- and it largely depends on what that habit is. For example, the researchers found that it took just a few weeks for healthcare workers to get used to washing their hands, while it took about six months for going to the gym to become a habit for people.
