If there was ever a reason not to throw out your old cell phones, this is it. A rare, first-generation iPhone from 2007 was recently auctioned for just over $190,000, setting a new record for collectible iPhones. The phone was a factory-sealed 4-gigabyte iPhone that was originally bought for around $475. It was only available for about two months and then discontinued because the more popular 8-gigabyte iPhone came out. An 8-gigabyte iPhone from 2007 was sold at auction earlier this year for more than $63,000.
