- Last week, we learned that after 16 years, country duo Big & Rich were passing the torch on ESPN's College Gameday theme song.
- Monday afternoon, ESPN confirmed things ahead of Week 1 this Saturday.
- This year's version of "Comin' To Your City" will have new singers: Darius Rucker, Lainey Wilson, and The Cadillac Three.
- ESPN's College GameDay matchup for Week 1 is North Carolina-South Carolina, which should make for a special occasion for Darius Rucker, a South Carolina alum and avid sports fan.
- "Oh man, I’ve watched that opening so many times. I used to sit in my room and go, ‘I’ve gotta write a song so I can do the opening of GameDay,'" Rucker said in ESPN's video. "What I’m getting to do is pretty amazing."
- Meanwhile, Lainey Wilson said she has some "very impressed family members" after being picked for the GameDay song, and The Cadillac Three "just want to be the first thing people see and hear Saturday morning."
