Does it matter where the ring on your finger comes from? For many newlyweds, the answer is a resounding yes. Lab-grown diamonds – diamonds that are, yes, created in a lab rather than mined from the earth -- are surging in popularity, due to their affordability and sustainability. Interest in these diamonds has soared nearly 3000% in the last five years. And it makes sense. Not only can they cost 85% less than natural diamonds, but they are physically and chemically identical to their counterparts. In a recent survey, nearly 70% of respondents said they did not see a difference between lab-grown and natural diamonds. As more people become aware of lab-grown diamonds, there is no doubt that their popularity will continue to grow, with 71% of respondents saying they believe lab-grown diamonds will become the new normal in the future.
