  • A Chatham County, Georgia man knew he'd likely get a Super Speeder ticket when he was busted driving 90 in 55mph zone on September 2nd. What he didn't expect was a fine of $1.4 million!
  • Connor Cato called Savannah's Recorders Court, hoping the fine was some type of clerical error, but the woman on the phone told him "You either pay the fine or show up in court on December 21st."
  • WSAV-TV reached out to officials to learn why Cato was fined more than a million bucks and learned that the exorbitant amount is added to tickets of those who are speeding by more than 35mph to note a mandatory court appearance. They explained that the amount is a "placeholder" and not an actual "fine".
  • One lawyer looking at the situation said "That fine amount is something that goes into cases that are drug trafficking, murders or aggravated assaults, something of that nature.”
