Real estate data brokerage website RealtyHop has just come out with their fourth annual Most Expensive Zip Codes Report. To come up with the list, their team pulled every real estate listing advertised in the U.S. this year so far (3.64 million of them), sorted them by zip code, and ranked them by median price.
For the fourth year running, the bay area community of Atherton, California (94027), tops the list with a median home price of $7.95-million, which is down about $1.1-million from last year. And California once again dominates the top 100 most expensive zip code list, claiming 61 spots and five of the top 10. Los Angeles is home to seven of the most expensive zip codes and Newport Beach is close behind with six.
