- Katy Perry was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and dropped a bombshell that she was "probably" done with the show. She also teased her exit ahead of the show on Instagram.
- During her appearance, Jimmy Kimmel asked Katy how long she might continue with the singing competition.
- “This fall, in September, I’m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio… so I think this will probably be my last season for ‘Idol,'” Katy Perry said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to a shocked audience.
- “I mean, I love ‘Idol’ so much,” she continued. “It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I need to feel that pulse of my own beat.”
- Apparently, her fellow judges, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, didn't know any of this. When Kimmel asked, “What did Luke and Lionel say?” Katy replied, “Well, they’ll find out tonight!”
- She went on to add, "They know I have some things planned for this year. It's going to be a very exciting year ... for all pop star girlies. I've been in the studio for a while."
- “I love the show so much, but I want to go and see the world and maybe bring new music,” she added. “Maybe I’ll come back if they have me one day.”
- Katy's last season on American Idol will be Season 22, which premieres on Feb. 12 on ABC.
