On the Italian island of Alicudi, goats outnumber people six to one. It’s become such a problem that residents cannot grow a simple garden. “Forget about growing anything, decorative or for the kitchen,” homeowner Lorcan O’Neill said. “The goats can get anywhere and eat the lot!” Goats first came to the island as a food source 35 years ago, but some escaped and have since been breeding. Fortunately, the adoption program has already had 1,900 offers from goat lovers worldwide. (newser)
