Archaeologists digging in Spain have unearthed what is believed to be the world's oldest bottle of wine. The wine, which was preserved inside a glass urn, dates back to the first century A.D. and was found alongside the remains of a Roman noblewoman. Analysis of the residue inside the urn revealed traces of tartaric acid, which indicates grape fermentation, confirming its identity as wine. The discovery provides archaeologists with a further understanding of how wine has played a role in societies for thousands of years.
