  • Mattel has introduced the first blind Barbie.
  • The doll was introduced on Monday as Mattel continues to spread a message of inclusivity in the Barbie world.
  • Eric Bridges, the CEO and president of the American Foundation, said, "A lot of thoughtful consideration went into this by Mattel and also by [the AFB] providing the feedback that we were able to get to this point today."
  • In addition, Mattel introduced a Black Barbie with Down syndrome. Previously, the toy company created a white Barbie with Down syndrome. The doll was developed in conjunction with the National Down Syndrome Society.
  • Both dolls retail for $10.99.
