Lyft Offers New Monthly Membership To Avoid Surge Pricing: Lyft has come up with a fix for a dreaded feature on ride-hailing apps - surge pricing. The company’s CEO, John David Risher, announced a new monthly subscription service called “Price Lock” that will cap prices for specific routes at selected times. He says surge pricing is “probably rideshare’s most hated feature,” and Price Lock will help customers avoid having to pay those jacked-up prices during high demand times. The new subscription will offer regular riders more reliable pricing and Risher says it will “definitely” cost less than $5 a month, but unfortunately, it won’t completely eliminate surge pricing.
