If you asked someone to name the perfect time to take a nap, they would probably answer something like, “Whenever they can.” But it turns out there is an ideal time to take a quick snooze.

Survey Commissioned by Avocado Green Mattress and conducted by Talker Research found that 1:42 p.m. is the perfect time to take a nap. And the perfect length of that nap, according to respondents, is 51 minutes. That means you’d be waking up from your nap at 2:33 p.m. Any longer than that and it’s no longer a nap and just, well, sleep.

That said, psychologist Nick Bach said 51 minutes may be too long. His recommended nap time? 20 minutes. “I always tell people that if they nap too long, they risk entering deep sleep, which makes waking up harder. A quick 20-minute nap is perfect for a recharge without the dreaded sleep inertia.”

Bach’s tips for perfect napping:

  • Keep it 20-30 minutes long.
  • Nap before 3 p.m.
  • Nap in a cool, dark, quiet place
  • Try a “coffee nap” – drink coffee right before you nap so when you wake up the coffee kicks in and you’ll feel refreshed.
