During a date at the Florida State Fair a couple of weeks ago, Dave surprised his longtime girlfriend, Lexi, with a one-of-a-kind proposal. The couple, who’ve been getting caricatures drawn by artist Damion Dunn since 2022, sat for another portrait — only this time, the artwork revealed Dave on one knee with a ring. As Lexi processed what she was seeing, Dave recreated the scene in real life, pulling out a ring box and officially asking her to marry him.
The thoughtful proposal had been in the works for a month, with Dave secretly coordinating with Dunn to make it happen. The artist even included sentimental details in the drawing, like the date of the couple’s first date and their engagement. A video of the moment quickly went viral online, capturing Lexi’s emotional reaction as she realized what was unfolding.
After she excitedly said yes, Dunn lightened the moment by jokingly asking if they’d be paying with cash or card. The couple, who met in 2014 while working at a surf shop, say the unique proposal perfectly fits their relationship. Dunn hopes they’ll continue their tradition of getting caricatures from him, saying he’s looking forward to drawing the couple's babies when they have them.
