The number of women’s sports bars is set to quadruple in 2025, jumping from six to about two dozen by the end of the year. With the rise in popularity of women's college and pro sports, it's no wonder these bars are booming. Inspired by trailblazers like The Sports Bra in Portland, Oregon, new bars are popping up in cities big and small, from New York to Omaha. These bars are creating a welcoming space where fans can enjoy women's sports without having to ask for the channel to be changed.
Molly Huyck, the owner of Set the Bar, said she was inspired to open her own space after she read about the United States’ first women’s sports bar, The Sports Bra in Portland, Oregon.
The bar opened at 61st and Maple in Benson on the second day of the men’s NCAA basketball tournament and the first day of the women’s NCAA basketball tournament.
