- The FDA reports that the August Egg Company of Hilmar, California, has recalled more than 1.6 million eggs due to a salmonella outbreak.
- 79 people have reported illnesses, and 21 have been hospitalized across seven states.
- The company's brown organic or brown cage-free eggs are on the recall list.
- Search 'August Egg Company' at FDA.gov to check your egg packages. If your eggs are on the extensive recall list, throw them out and thoroughly disinfect any surfaces they may have touched.
