If your holiday shopping list already feels a little out of control, here’s something that might make you feel better. The PNC Christmas Price Index is back, and it reveals what it would cost to buy every single gift mentioned in “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” Spoiler: your wallet would not be thrilled.

The Grand Total for All 12 Gifts

To buy one set of each gift from the song, you’d spend $51,476.12 this year. That’s a 4.5 percent jump from last year, which feels about right considering everything from groceries to glitter seems pricier lately.

Some gifts saw bigger increases than others.

  • Five Gold Rings had the biggest jump at 32.5 percent.
  • The Pear Tree climbed 13.5 percent.
  • Most of the birds stayed the same price, which is honestly the only calm part of this list.

Here’s the Cost of Each Gift

  • Partridge in a Pear Tree: $420.18
  • Two Turtle Doves: $750
  • Three French Hens: $346.50
  • Four Calling Birds: $599.96
  • Five Gold Rings: $1,649.90
  • Six Geese-A-Laying: $930
  • Seven Swans-A-Swimming: $13,125
  • Eight Maids-A-Milking: $58
  • Nine Ladies Dancing: $8,856.88
  • Ten Lords-A-Leaping: $16,836.14
  • Eleven Pipers Piping: $3,797.48
  • Twelve Drummers Drumming: $4,106.08

But Wait… The Song Repeats

If you bought the gifts exactly as the song repeats them, you wouldn’t be buying 12 gifts. You’d be buying 364.

That total comes to $218,542.98. Yes, you read that right. More than two hundred thousand dollars for a holiday gesture.
