Frustrated applicants are paying anywhere from a few dollars to around forty-five bucks for spells meant to boost career luck, confidence, or prosperity.
One woman said she bought a five-dollar job spell after months of rejection. Not long after, she landed a full-time job. She’s not claiming the spell did it, but she’s also not ruling it out.
Whether the magic works is up for debate. Experts aren’t exactly lining up to confirm anything. But for a lot of young adults, the appeal isn’t the spell itself. It’s the feeling that they’re doing something — anything — to take back control in a tough economy.
