Last week, in Montoursville, Pennsylvania, an 84-year-old man called the police--not to report a crime, but to hitch a ride to the hospital to visit his ailing wife. Police Chief Jeff Gyurina responded by giving the unidentified man the cell phone number for a patrol officer who was on duty. That officer, Deputy Chief Jason Bentley, eventually picked the elderly man up and drove him to the hospital in Williamsport. "It's a small town, so you try to help out when you can," Bentley tells the AP.
