No one is getting any younger, but some folks are a little more freaked out about the idea of aging than others. While going under the knife for a little work to take years off the face is no big deal to some people, invasive surgery isn’t the only way to get a smoother, tighter complexion. These are the most effective non-surgical beauty procedures, according to dermatologists.
- Ultherapy - It’s the only device on the market that’s FDA approved to lift the brows, neck and under the chin. It uses ultrasound to boost collagen production and it’s not invasive, doesn’t require cutting or stitching, or look “too much.” Christie Brinkley is a fan of Ultherapy and have you seen her lately? She looks amazing and she’s 64!
- Injectable fillers - Fillers like Restylane and Sculptra are good for adding volume and tightening with non-invasive energy devices like Thermage, along with resurfacing with lasers are all treatments that require little to no downtime or sedation.
- Carboxytherapy - It treats dark circles by “rejuvenating the circulation” and gets rid of inflammation and stagnant blood flow that leads to circles, bags, and crepe-y skin. The treatment only takes about 15 minutes and there’s no pain or downtime.
- Microneedling with Platelet Rich Plasma - For this one, a doctor or nurse takes your blood and separates your platelet rich plasma, that’s full of proteins, stem cells, collagen and elastin. Then millions of microscopic holes are painlessly punctured into your skin and the plasma is applied to your face and it seeps in. It’s supposed to get rid of wrinkles, tighten skin, and improve sun damage. There is a little downtime, but docs say it gives the biggest bang for your buck of any non-invasive procedure.
