Military Dad Deployed In Japan Gets Long Distance Gender Reveal

Gender reveals for expecting parents have become a big deal, but what do you do when dad is deployed halfway around the world? Tell him the gender of his unborn baby long distance.

Marine Zach Zapata is at a military base in Japan and his wife, Janet, is back in North Carolina, but she wanted to make sure he felt included in the pregnancy despite the 3,000 miles between them. She sent him a box of baby stuff that he opened with his military colleagues nearby and found it was full of soft sports toys and a pair of newborn boy’s shoes.

"Everyone in my company knew that my wife was pregnant and they were all very excited for me, even more so because they really wanted to know what the sex of the baby was going to be," Zapata explains. "The feeling of knowing I had so many of my people around me to share this announcement truly made it special.”
