Thieves Drill Into Car Wash, Clean Out Nearly 4,000 Quarters

A pair of thieves in Florida recently made away with 3,396 quarters from a car wash. According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the heist took place at a self-service car wash connected to the Mobil gas station in Dania Beach on May 8. In surveillance footage released Wednesday, one of the men is seen acting as a lookout while the second uses a drill to make a large hole in the machine to collect $849 worth of coins. The first man is described as a heavyset man with a light complexion and the second man is described as a heavyset man with a dark complexion, short dark hair and a thin beard. They drove a silver four-door Ford Focus hatchback as their getaway car.
