A high school graduate had 39 police officers at her graduation. Why?

Lauren Rich was only seven when her dad, an Indiana State Trooper, was killed in the line of duty in 2007. Master Trooper Dave Rich was investigating a stranded car when a man opened fire through the driver’s window, striking the unarmored officer in the chest.

His colleagues never forgot him or his little girl. That’s why 39 officers from six different departments descended on Southwood Junior-Senior High School to see Lauren graduate.

Sgt. Tony Slocum posted a photo of the men and their special graduate on Twitter saying “Congrats Lauren, we promise we will never forget your (family’s) sacrifice.”

She even got to wear a trooper hat.
