After Wedding Is Cancelled, Bride Feeds Homeless At Venue

Sarah Cummins planned her wedding for two years, and when the nuptials were cancelled, she was stuck with a $30,000 non-refundable venue and a ton of food she’d already paid for. So instead of letting it all go to waste, the 25-year-old Indiana woman decided to put that space and food to good use.

Cummins tried to donate the food to local shelters, but some have rules about accepting cooked food, so she decided to use her wedding venue to have a big dinner party for the homeless instead. It was still an emotional time for the bride, but she was happy that people were able to enjoy what she had put together for what would’ve been her reception and she says this helped her with the healing process.

“I think if a wedding is going to end I think the way that it did was probably one of the best outcomes you could hope for,” Cummins says. “I think it was just kind of a win-win for everybody involved.”
