The Weirdest Foods at This Year's State Fair of Texas

Would you eat a cotton candy taco or deep fried ranch dressing? What about pickles fried in Red Kool-Aid? Those are some of the dishes that made it to the semi finales for this year's State Fair of Texas' Big Tex Choice Awards food competition. While the event doesn't kick off until September 28, Food & Wine reports that the semi-finalists and their strange creations have already been released. Other highlights among this year's contenders include a fried-orange-flavored chiffon cake, bacon brittle, and deep-fried lobster pops. The chefs behind these dishes are competing for one of three titles: Best Taste -- Sweet, Best Taste -- Savory and, of course, Most Creative. Behold: The Most Over-the-Top Food at This Year's State Fair of Texas
