Oncology nurse donates wedding dress to cancer patient

The Bottom Line: Oncology nurse seeks out an engaged cancer patient to donate her unused wedding dress to.

The Full Story:

Nurses are known for being kind and caring and Jessica Leja is no exception. The oncology nurse’s wedding was called off this spring and she was left with an $1,800 gown she never wore. She could’ve sold it, but she decided to donate it to an engaged cancer patient or survivor instead.

Leja got the word out that she was giving away her wedding dress and she received hundreds of emails from interested brides-to-be, but one stood out to her. Toni Roberts, a cancer patient and mom of one from Tennessee connected with Leja and after the women got to know each other a bit, she knew she wanted to give her the dress.

Now when Roberts ties the knot with fiance Daniel Johnson in February, she’ll be wearing a gorgeous gown from a generous nurse. “I thought it was so sweet that Jessica could take an unfortunate situation (like a wedding being canceled) and turn it around and make it happy for someone else,” Roberts says.
